Our Story<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hallaton Museum was the inspiration of Mrs Honoria Whigham who wanted to record, for future generations, a way of life in a small village community which was rapidly changing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To this end a great variety of artefacts were gathered to form the nucleus of an historic local collection and a display mounted each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Museum doors have been open to guests since 1978. We are changing and evolving all the time in an effort to consistently offer new experiences to you and your family.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

To commemorate the centenary of the Great War it was decided to write the biographies of all those connected with Hallaton who served in that conflict.
Such a diversity of experiences, from writing these stories, of so many different theatres of the war that it was decided to mount this major exhibition to show some of the less well known but equally fascinating aspects of that terrible conflict, which engulfed every village and town in the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hallaton Museum proudly celebrates winning the prestigious national Museums + Heritage Awards 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Museums + Heritage Awards celebrate the very best in the world of museums, galleries, and cultural and heritage visitor attractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition “Hallaton in the Great War – Tales of the Unexpected”, by Hallaton in the Great War Research Group, scooped this distinguished award in the category ‘Project on a limited budget’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Described, ‘the very essence of a great community project, personalised, moving and locally relevant. It demonstrated very thorough research and saw an impressive return on investment’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our congratulations go to Denis Kenyon and John Morison, pictured receiving their award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
